KANG Jianmin, MD, Chief Physician, member of Chinese Medical Association, committee member of Chinese Medical Association Endoscopy Expert Committee

 

Specialty: endoscopic minimally invasive surgery for ventricles and skull base lesions and intracranial tumors.

 

He is skilled in operations for intracranial tumors, intracranial aneurysms, vascular malformations, cranial nerve diseases, deformities, hydrocephalus and spinal cord lesions. He mainly engages in minimally invasive endoscopic surgical treatment of the intracranial tumor and ventricle, skull base lesions. His original preoperative endoscopic detection technology allows the treatment of hydrocephalus to attain advanced level in China. He was the first one who introduced laser photodynamic therapy for intracranial tumor disease in Tianjin in 2010. At that time only a few hospitals carried out this technique in China. It is another advanced treatment following the new techniques such as brain tumor surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.

 

Dr. Kang graduated from college in 1988, and studied for PhD in 1992-1998. He presided over the improvement of ventricular puncture positioning technology, determination technology on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) absorption, and surgical technique for heavy ventricular hemorrhage, and gained awards by Tianjin Bureau of Public Health and Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission. In addition, he participated in several other research projects, and published articles on "Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery", "Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery," "Journal of Apoplexy and Nervous Diseases" and so on. His postgraduate students are studying on ultrasound and fluorescence guided positioning technology and laser photodynamic therapy in brain tumor surgeries.
